Youth festival 2025

This blog is part of my academic activity assigned by Dr. Dilip Barad Sir. It reflects my wonderful experience as a volunteer in the Youth Festival “Bhavgunjan Yuvak Mahotsav”, which was organized from 9th to 11th October at our university.

Every year, the youth festival brings a wave of enthusiasm, creativity, and talent among students. This time, being a part of it not as a participant but as a volunteer was a whole new and enriching experience for me.

Experience as a Volunteer at Bhavgunjan Yuvak Mahotsav (9th–11th October)

 About the Event

The youth festival, titled “Bhavgunjan Yuvak Mahotsav”, was a three-day celebration of art, culture, intellect, and youth spirit. Students from different departments participated in various competitions  from dance, drama, and singing to literary and quiz events.

This year, I got an opportunity to serve as a volunteer from the Department of English, as our department was assigned the responsibility of organizing the Quiz Competition. The event was coordinated by Himal Pandya Sir, under whose guidance we worked throughout the festival.

 Day 1: Preparation and Registration

The first day of the festival was all about preparation and arrangements. As volunteers, we reported early in the morning and started setting up everything for the Quiz event.

We arranged the sitting area, registration desk, and materials required for the competition. It was quite a busy and exciting day because we had to make sure everything was perfectly managed before the participants arrived.

Later, we handled the registration process, greeting participants from different colleges and departments, checking their names, and confirming their participation. Working together with other volunteers gave me a sense of teamwork and responsibility.

Under the guidance of Himal Pandya Sir, we learned how to manage an event professionally  from communication and coordination to time management. His way of leading the team made the work enjoyable and organized.

Day 2: The Final Round and Our Victory

The second day was the final round of the Quiz competition. There was a lot of excitement and healthy competition among the participants. The quiz tested knowledge from various fields  literature, current affairs, logic, and general awareness.

I was thrilled because our English Department team was also among the finalists  and to our delight, we secured the second position!

It was a proud and joyful moment for all of us. After the quiz ended, our volunteering duties were done for the day, so we got the chance to explore and enjoy other events like dance, drama, and music performances. Watching the creative performances and the energy of students was truly inspiring.

 Day 3:  Closing Ceremony

                                   (Volunteer team)

The third day was the grand finale  the Closing Ceremony, where the results of all events were announced and prizes were distributed. The atmosphere was full of joy, applause, and celebration.

It felt special to see all the hard work of students and volunteers come together so beautifully. As volunteers, we helped in maintaining the arrangements and assisted in the smooth flow of the closing ceremony.

When our department’s name was announced for winning second position in the Quiz, I felt proud not only as a team member but also as a volunteer who contributed to making the event successful.

 Reflections on My Experience

Being a volunteer in Bhavgunjan Yuvak Mahotsav taught me many things beyond academics. I learned about teamwork, coordination, time management, and leadership. It also gave me the confidence to take responsibility and work efficiently under guidance.

The experience also made me realize how much effort goes behind organizing an event  from planning and communication to execution. Working under Himal Pandya Sir was a great learning experience; his calm and organized approach inspired all of us.

Overall, these three days were full of learning, joy, and memorable moments. It was a perfect blend of hard work and celebration  an experience that will stay with me throughout my student life.

 Conclusion

Volunteering in Bhavgunjan Yuvak Mahotsav was not just an event duty; it was an opportunity for personal growth and connection. It made me appreciate the spirit of teamwork and the joy of contributing to something bigger than myself.

Such youth festivals not only showcase the talents of students but also help us build a strong sense of community and belonging within the university. I feel truly grateful to have been a part of it  both as a volunteer and a participant.

Exploring Other Events: Music, Dance, and Art

After completing my volunteer duties for the Quiz competition, I got the wonderful opportunity to explore other events of Bhavgunjan Yuvak Mahotsav. It was truly exciting to witness the wide range of talents and creativity displayed by students from various departments.

First, I attended the Orchestra Event, where participants performed with great enthusiasm and skill. The rhythm, coordination, and musical harmony created a vibrant atmosphere. It was inspiring to see how confidently the students played different instruments and expressed their passion for music. Each performance reflected not only their musical talent but also their dedication and love for the art.

Next, I went to watch the Choreography Competition, which turned out to be one of the most engaging and thought-provoking events of the festival. The participants presented various performances based on current social themes and mythological reinterpretations in a very creative and emotional manner.

One of the most striking performances depicted Draupadi in the modern world, showing how women today still have to fight against harassment and injustice. By connecting mythology with the present, the performance powerfully reflected the ongoing struggles of women in society.

Another choreography focused on Gujarat and its cultural spirit. Through energetic Garba and traditional dance forms, the participants beautifully showcased the essence of Gujarat’s pride, unity, and festive culture in today’s time.

A third performance was based on Lord Krishna, portraying his divine presence and the values he represents through graceful dance mments and expressive storytelling. The choreography was visually stunning, with perfect synchronization and emotional depth that captivated everyone in the audience.

Each performance carried a unique message and artistic beauty, blending myth, culture, and social awareness in a way that deeply touched the viewers. Watching these performances helped me understand how art can communicate ideas and emotions beyond words.

 Witnessing the Fine Arts Exhibition

On the last day, after the closing ceremony (Purnahuti Karyakram), I also visited the Fine Arts Exhibition, where all the art events were open for public display. The exhibition included various forms of visual art such as cartooning, painting, collage, poster-making, clay modelling, and installation art.

Each artwork was rich in creativity and meaning. I could observe different themes, elements of satire, moral messages (didacticism), and aesthetic beauty expressed through colors, shapes, and ideas. Some works humorously criticized social issues, while others conveyed deep emotions or celebrated cultural identity.

It was fascinating to see how artists expressed their thoughts visually  transforming imagination into something meaningful and impactful. This experience made me appreciate the power of visual art in reflecting society and evoking reflection among viewers.
